Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Asian Studies

In a world increasingly focused on the Asia-Pacific, get a head start with the  Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Asian Business.

What is Asian Business?

Because Asia is one of the world's most dynamic regions it merits special attention both in theory and practice. Apart from traditional powerhouses such as Japan and South Korea, the emergence of China and India as major economies has changed global and regional realities. Now more than ever there is a need to understand the region on its own terms. In this context, the HELP Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Asian Business combines the strength of a conventional business degree with a clear perception into the Asian business environment.

Why a degree in Asian Business?

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Asian Business three year program.

  • Emphasises practical applications for global careers based on a thorough understanding of economic developments and social trends in contemporary Asia
  • Provides in-depth knowledge of regional studies and business, while at the same time offering a wide choice of electives to enhance the st udents' knowledge, capacity for growth and, ultimately, their employability.
  • Enables graduates to compete and take leadership roles due to their ability to think independently and innovatively. With their comprehensive understanding of real-world Asian business, graduates are able to respond effectively to new challenges and identify solutions in a world economy increasingly focused on the Asia-Pacific region.

Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Asian Business at a glance

  • It has a double focus on business and Asian studies, giving the student transferable skills and a wide knowledge of the economic, business and organisational logic of a range of Asian countries.
  • The focus is on the business systems of specific dynamic regions: East Asia (China, Japan, and South Korea), Southeast Asia (Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore) and South Asia (India).
  • Each country is examined in terms of its strategic orientation, nature of economic agents, market organisation and work coordination
  • As a study of contemporary Asia, the course also addresses key debates and issues related to globalisation, the information economy and the strategic imperatives of Asian firms and economies.
  • It aims at preparing students for leadership and aspiration to high regional positions as leaders of NGOs, entrepreneurs, and successful role models in business, commerce and industry.
  • An important component of the program is an examination of the roots of success of outstanding Asian business leaders and entrepreneurs, and case studies of successful Asian institutions, enterprises, and industries.
