HMC'S LEADERSHIP CAMP
17/06/2011 - 5:50pm
In line with HMC's vision of preparing students for undergraduate study and equipping them with an all round education, the Department organised the first leadership camp for the HELP Foundation students. The camp was held at the Trolak Country Resort where the students spent 3 days and 2 nights learning the finer points of a holistic education. This leadership camp is the first of many to come as all foundation students at HELP will be exposed to various skills to provide them with the competitive edge that they need. The objective of the leadership camp is to motivate students to believe in themselves and to highlight to them important skills such as interactive skills, leadership skills, teamwork and the need to be versatile and flexible. Some students who initially treated the camp with skepticism and doubt emerged from the camp feeling that they had acquired invaluable knowledge that will hold them in good stead in the future. It also built a very close rapport among the students and the staff. Many interesting activities were carried out by able facilitators who made the camp very interesting and lively while at the same time imparting their knowledge to the students. Students who were initially shy and nervous faced their fears and overcame the many challenges thrown at them. They realised that with encouragement, will power and perseverance, anything could be achieved. The leadership camp has transformed many students into more confident individuals, and we at HMC strongly believe that the camp is one of the best tools to mould our students to be the leaders of tomorrow.
