Bachelor of Psychology Student Council

The BPsych Student Council members are elected annually at the departmental level. The appointed Student Council members will be actively involved in promoting and protecting students' rights, responsibilities, needs and interests so as to ensure that psychology students at HELP receive a quality, all-round educational experience.  The council also promotes students' activism through organization of educational, humanitarian, recreational, cultural and entertainment activities (clubs, society, concerts, roundtables, debates, promotions, sports events, picnics, excursions etc.). Those in the council are responsible to work with other student councils at HELP University College and with the Management bodies of the Department.

Career Exploration Club

The aim of this club is to promote the need for career planning amongst all students of HELP.  The club with the motto 'Explore Your Potential, Strive for Infinite Success' was formed to assist students of HELP in exploring their potential to chart a directional plan for their lives.  The club had also collaborated with CAREERsense@HELP in organising the annual Career Fair as well as the Career Awareness Campaign.

Child Development Psychology Club
This club will broaden the horizons for students interested in working with children by exposing them to the different professions that exist in this area.

Clinical Psychology Interest Club
Provides opportunities for aspiring clinical psychologists to get acquainted with this profession and the opportunities that exist in Malaysia.

Community Outreach Society
Community Outreach offers students opportunities to engage in service related activities in community while enriching their own learning experience at HELP University College. Students will have the opportunity to engage in a series of engaging, interactive and collaborative projects to help small towns and villages to enhance their quality of life.

EduPower Infinitum Club (EPIC)

EPIC exists to train undergraduate and the public as well as to provides avenues for our students to grow in the discipline of human performance. EPIC organizes training events for its internal and external clients.

Forensic Psychology Club
The purpose of this club is to raise the profile of forensic psychology as a viable post-graduate study, and eventually, career option . To that intent, the club strives to expose members to areas of forensic psychology such as  the intersection of psychology and law, and in covering both civil and criminal aspects, to discover the sub-speciality areas such as profiling, interview  of witnesses, identification of sociopaths and psychopaths, relevant research, and liaison with law enforcement as well as legal officers.

HIV-AIDS Prevention & Intervention Club
With the increase of HIV infection through free sex, HAPI club is formed to create awareness and educate young people about HIV and AIDS, especially on its mode of tranmission and prevention measure. It also serves as an open platform for students to obtain information and discuss about issues related to  HIV, AIDS and SEX. With the right information about HIV and AIDS, it is hope to not only reduce the stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA), but instead young people will learn how to show support and care for PLWHA.

Peer Support Group


Students going back to nature during Peer Support Group Outings

The aim of the peer support group is to provide support and empowerment to those around them by being sensitive friends and positive role models. This group conducts free training courses in mentoring and facilitation skills. The peer support group undergoes training under a counselling psychologist to help them hone their listening and interpersonal skills. The group also helps disseminate info on mental health issues to students through its website and notice boards.

Personalysis Club
This club is catered to students who are interested in exploring their own and other people’s personalities and characteristics. Activities include the study of body language, lie detection technique-learning and graphology (exploring one’s personality through their handwriting). Join us to reveal the unknown!

MindGames (Creative Games Club)
Many games today are a simulation of everyday interactions and processes which individuals and communities encounter.  They incorporate and develop various social and psychological skills such as negotiation, persuasion, conformity, compliance, social expectations and a host of other cognitive and emotional developments that come to the fore whenever these games are played. Needless to say, games, by their own merit, offer an excellent vehicle for greater in-depth insight into the varied and complicated routes that are so often hidden deep within the human psyche. As such, it is the goal of this club to provide its members with an opportunity to experience an alternative way to observe,learn and hone their psychological acumen beyond the confines of the classroom. Wouldn't it be great if all learning was this fun?

Psychology Human Resources Club
This club was started by students planning to work in corporate human resource management and organises workshops, internships and contact events that explore how psychological theory can be applied to human resource management.

Publications Division

This division is for those interested in refining their writing and mass media skills.  This team produces the HELP Psychology Times wall newspaper and an annual Year-CD that captures all the happenings at the Department of Psychology.

Random Activity and Thoughts Society
This clubs aims to provide a safe platform for staff and students to express and execute innovative idea(s). This club does not focus on the end result but the process.

Social Work Division


Poster Exhibitions at the Social Work Division Social Concern Day

This division is made up of a dynamic group of young people ready and able to make an impact in the community by giving themselves to make a difference. They organise activities and campaigns that encourage students to use their training in psychology to reach out and help the needy in our community. Some of their regular activities include volunteer work in orphanages and old folks’ homes. In addition, this division also holds various events such as awareness campaigns like the Social Concern Day, community projects and fund-raising events. For those who have a heart to reach out and touch lives, this division will certainly suit you well.

Society for Psychological Trainers and Consultants
For students interested in developing their skills in soft skill training and corporate consulting, this society provides an opportunity to learn from each other and network with future trainers and consultants.

Society for Psychological Entrepreneurs


Students selling food at the Artisan Cafe held every Wednesdays

Planning to start your own business when you graduate? This society will provide the basic training and experience you will need to prepare yourself for the harsh but exciting world of entrepreneurship. The society plans to start up their own businesses and incubator platforms to help aspiring psychology entrepreneurs from HELP.

Student Activities Division


Students at a "Stress Buster" Session

This division organises events that encourage social interaction amongst psychology students. Further, it is an avenue for students to exercise their leadership skills in organising and planning for events, while fostering the spirit of cooperation by working together with other students. Feature events that have been organised in previous semesters are the Annual Psychology Ball, Annual Summer Variety Concert, Students’ Stress Buster, Wednesday’s movie screenings, outdoor sports competitions, food sales and lunchtime cafes.

Testing and Assessment Club
The purpose of this club is to attract, inspire & engage HELP psychology student into a better understanding of the role psychological testing & assessment plays in the growing professional sophistication of modern urban societies.

+ The objectives are to enrich students’ knowledge & skills on all aspects of psychometric approach as a methods of research & as tools, in terms of design & construction, scoring & standardizations, area of applications,  legal & ethical considerations.

+ To engage students in helping to build up a data base for testing & assessment & item banks to facilitate test construction.

+ To coordinate students’ work with the objectives of CareerSense at HELP.

Travel and Relaxation Club
This club is one that seeks to strike the balance between work and play among the students. Consistent with the three themes, we believe that university/ college life should be enriched with experiences outside the college to get in touch with the nature and to serve the society by helping those in needs. To serve the objectives, some activities being held are such as yoga classes, dance classes, trips, night cycling, the list goes on. This club is the right avenue for students to relax their mind and get in touch with the outside world.
