Profile :
Dr James Nayagam heads the Department of Economics and lectures on Business Economics, International
Business, Strategic Management, and Project Planning and Preparation, as well as, supervises students doing  
projects at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has more than 15 years of teaching and training    
experience.


Prior to entering the academic arena and joining HELP University College, he worked as a researcher, an economist, 
coordinator of applied economic projects and economic consultant for the Rubber Research Institute of Malaysia, the
world's renowned and largest research and development organization for a single industrial crop. His work experience includes planning and coordination of socio-economic projects, undertaking economic evaluations of projects, carrying out feasibility studies for new projects, and preparing and delivering papers at conferences, seminars, training sessions, workshops, etc.


While as a researcher, he has authored and co-authored 50 papers and articles. Now, as an academician, his  
research interests are on utilization of migrant workers in the production processes and foreign direct investments.

 

Name : Mr Baldev Sidhu
        Position : Senior Lecturer

        Profile :
        Baldev undertook his tertiary education in Britain. He has a varied career background and before morphing into an
        academic, had been a journalist, a senior planner, a research associate and a consultant in economic, organizational
        and development matters, locally and in Toronto, Canada. He has undertaken projects and research for a range of
        institutions including the Federal and State governments of Malaysia, Asian Development Bank and the United
        Nations. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer and having a multidisciplinary background, teaches a range of subjects
        related to the Asian region and also in the field of organization and management studies. He has also developed new
        courses in Asian Business and China. His interests are eclectic and include Asian studies (notably China and India),
        the sociology of business, globalization & social-economic change, management theory, models of capitalism & the
        institutional basis of economic & business models. He has been an ardent supporter of Liverpool F.C for decades.

       Joined HELP in 1996 and has been lecturing the UK undergraduate programmes for financial accounting and
       management accounting subjects. She was trained in PriceWaterhourse Cooper in the area of audit prior lecturing. 

 
       Name : Ms Valerie Loh

       Profile :
       Valerie obtained her BSc Econs (Hons) from the University of London in 1999 and subsequently obtained her MSc
       Finance from the University of Strathclyde in 2004. She has been teaching for a number of years on a variety of
       programmes, including the Bachelor of Science (External) programmes offered by the University of London, The
       University of East London Bachelor degree programmes, Charles Stuart University Bachelor degree programmes and
       HELP University College pre-university and bachelor degree programmes. The subjects she has taught range from
       economics to corporate finance. Her areas of interest are in debt securities and capital markets.

 
      Name : Mr Chandra K

      Profile :
      Mr Chandra did his first degree is in Economics at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and later pursue his Master degree 
      in Management at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He started his teaching career in 1984 in a private institution. He
      have been in the education industry for the past 24 years and have taught in various degree programmes at the
      undergraduate level. He teach subjects related to business, management and economic.

Anne Marie Warren, B. Computing (Monash), MBA (MIS) (UM) is a lecturer of the Economics Department of HELP 
    University College. She holds an MBA specializing in Management Information Systems from University of Malaya and
    a Bachelor in Computing from Monash University (Melbourne). She was awarded a medal for her MBA academic
    achievements by University Malaya. Her Masters thesis was on “E-commerce: Trust among Internet Users” which was
    presented at the BIT Conference organised by UiTM for 2006. She has taught local and overseas MBA programs at
    HELP and in Vietnam under the HELP-Edith Cowan MBA program.
 
    Prior to joining the academic field at the Economics Department, she was the Assistant Manager of the Centre for  
    Performance Management as well as an Internal ISO Auditor. Prior to joining HELP University College, she worked as a  
    Security Analyst in one of the leading local banks. She also tutored in System Analysis and Design, and Software
    Engineering Practice in the Computer School of Software Engineering at Monash University, Melbourne.

    Her work experiences includes planning and coordinating IT projects; focused primarily on providing an effective and  
    rigorous IT operations security audit; undertaking technical security evaluations including the performance of  
   penetration tests, vulnerabilities assessments, and security compliance audits; making recommendations to improve
   security best practices; lecturing on operations management, BIS, HR and management subjects. She also writes poetry
   and short articles. In the past, some of her work has been published in The Star newspaper. 

 
    Name : Mr Gavin Chong

Profile :
   Gavin focuses on the managerial and information systems aspects of accountancy. With experiences in various
   industries, he is able to relate academic theories to practices that help students to understand and build relevant
   knowledge to meet challenges in dynamic competitive environments. His interest includes the study of the relationship of
   sociology, information systems and managerial accounting, and its implications and impacts on organizations.

  Sharina Silvaraj is a Graduate from University of Malaya with a Masters degree in Economics. She majored in Analytical  
  Economics while pursuing
Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Administration. She wrote a research paper on Monetary
  Policy as an Instrument of Macroeconomic Stabilization in Malaysia. She is passionate about teaching and doing research.
  She is currently involved in writing a research paper on the topic “Trends, Patters and Determinants Japanese Foreign
  Direct Investment in Malaysia”.
