Brief Overview

Want to be a professional in a high profile position; Want a career that is dynamic and challenging; Want a degree that will provide you with career opportunities in many different areas; Want a highly competitive salary and excellent benefits; Have superior math aptitude and communication skills? These are top reasons to consider becoming a qualified actuary. Actuary is a career without boundaries. A person with this degree is not shackled to the profession and has a wide range of career options. To be able to practise as an actuary, you will need to pass a series of examinations set by an accredited actuarial body eg Society of Actuaries (SoA) (US) and Casualty Actuarial Society (US). There are 8 to 9 papers to pass and it takes a minimum of four years to complete these examinations although there is no definite time frame. Membership in this professional body is divided into 3 categories: student, associate and fellow and you must be registered as a fellow with SoA to be considered a professional actuary.
