It addresses issues in social psychology, developmental psychology, the helping relationship, testing and assessment, group work, research methodology, ethics in the helping profession, career guidance and development, and practical work.

The curriculum is also structured according to the requirements of the Standards and Requirements of Training for Counsellors 2003-2010 as set by the Malaysian Board of Counsellors.

Aims of the Course

The main aim of the program is to produce professional counsellors capable of meeting the mental health needs of Malaysian society. The course is designed to expose the student to a holistic approach in the field of counselling. The student will find a balance between theory, research, and practise.

Given this varied exposure in all the key areas of counselling, graduates from this program will be able to practise in a host of settings. Finally, the Masters in Counseling at HELP can also serve as a launch pad for those who wish to continue their studies in counselling at the doctoral level.
