Dear Parents
Admissions
Academics

Postgraduate study or work in a large variety of areas.

This program has received full accreditation by LAN.

Yes, you can choose to continue your post grad studies in various countries (including Australia, NZ, UK and the US).

It is a general degree in psychology and students will be exposed to all areas in the field of psychology.  All top psychology programs in major countries do not specialize in their first degree and this is the case for the HELP program.  You will learn about early childhood education as part of your degree.

Yes. HELP program is recognized by over 40 universities in Australia, United Kingdom, and New Zealand.

Certainly. They make good psychologists because they are good listeners, which is an important trait in counseling and clinical psychology.

Career options are very wide for psychology graduates because wherever there are people, there is a need for psychologists. Psychology after all is the study of human behavior, thoughts and feelings. No other graduate understands people better than a psychology graduate. Options include: human resource management, marketing, customer service, research analyst, advertising, counseling, clinical psychology, child psychology, training, social work. The salary of course will depend on which company you are working for. But it is not true to say that a psychologist is poor. There are trainers who are earning over $4000 a day for training. The good thing about psychology in Malaysia is that the competition is very limited; so the chances of jobs are higher than other degree options.

Different universities call their psychology degrees by different names. Usually the degree name reflects which faculty the psychology program is from. For example; a Bachelor of Arts in psychology means that the psychology program is from the arts faculty. The important thing is that IT DOES NOT MATTER. As long as the psychology degree is recognised by the local psychology accreditation board (for example APS in Australia and BPS in the UK) it is really the same thing. It has no long term implications for your area of specialization or post graduate studies. In the end you study the same thing. In Malaysia, HELP is offering a Bachelor of Psychology which I think is the most appropriate name for the degree. In Australia, NZ, US and the UK, Hons stand for Honors which is an extra title you earn if your grades are above a certain level. In Australia, NZ and the US only the top 20% of students can get into honors.

Yes. The GCE London A-Levels are in fact the largest A-Level awarding body in the world, as well as in the UK. In fact, the GCE London Examination is accredited by the Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA) in the United Kingdom, a home regulatory body which ensures that all education providers meet the high standards it sets.

The London A-Levels are recognised and accepted by top universities in the world without prejudice. Students who have completed the London A-Levels at HELP have gained admission to Cambridge, Oxford, LSE, University College London, King’s College, Princeton, Stanford, NUS, HKUST and other universities.
The Qualifications & Curriculum Authority (QCA) in the UK only recognises the London A-Levels. The London A-Levels is under the tight scrutiny of the QCA for all preparation, distribution and marking of the examination papers. For the London A-Levels, there is a centre in every region to facilitate communication with Edexcel UK, in addition to ensuring that the London A-Levels centres meet the standards set by the QCA.

While the syllabuses of both boards are similar, the London A-Levels is based on a modular system, whereby each subject, in general, is split into 6 units. Students have to complete 2 units per semester, and examinations are taken in stages, ie in January & June, with the AS level being equivalent to Units 1, 2 & 3, and A2, Units 4, 5 & 6. This modular system aims to test you on the application of each unit, and hence a student can choose to repeat a single unit on its own, without having to repeat an entire level. Only the highest mark scored in any attempt will automatically be taken into account.

The Cambridge Board, on the other hand, is linear-based. Students attempt to take the examinations in two stages, AS & A2 Level. Students unsatisfied with any of their individual units must re-sit the entire level, ie either AS or A2, and only the last score will automatically be taken into account.

Known as the "Gold Standard" of pre-university education, the A-Levels is the gateway to the best universities in the world for competitive degree courses, eg medicine, law, economics, engineering, architecture, actuarial science and mathematics.

With an indisputable great team of lecturers to guide students throughout their A-Levels program, they are motivated to strive for excellence.

Many are also admitted to prestigious universities worldwide with scholarships. Click here to view world class results.

University Placement Service Centre: Dedicated staff from this centre assist A-Level students in their application for admission to universities worldwide and in their bid to secure scholarships. Click HERE for details of services offered.

Unique Pastoral Care:
Each A-Level student at HELP is assigned to a mentor, usually a lecturer, who serves to monitor and guide the student on academic performance and also advise on application for university admission. A team of counsellors from the Center of Psychology also provides a range of mental health and leadership programs and personal counselling services for A-Level students at HELP.

ECA for Personal & Leadership Development:
In order to cultivate leadership and organisational skills, students participate in many extra-curricular activities such as the A-Levels Student Council, A-Levels Annual Ball, A-Levels Badminton Tournament, and charity projects. Field trips are also organised to attend public lectures, court trials, research institutes and other places to enable students to gain an insight into career and working environments.

Each year, the A-Level students have a tradition of staging an English drama production which receives popular reviews from the media and the public. This production provides a platform for A-Level students to exhibit their talents and also cultivate their interest in the arts as part of their holistic development.

Our A-Level students have consistently gained admission to upper echelon universities around the world. Our aim is to nurture students to enable them to qualify for the world’s best universities. Among the renowned universities that have admitted our students are: Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial College, London School of Economics, University College London (UK); Princeton, Stanford, Brown, Cornell, California Berkeley (US); Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide (Australia), Auckland, Massey, Otago (New Zealand); and National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).

A large cohort of HELP students received prestigious scholarships from the Securities Commission, Sime Darby and GIC, as well as from the universities directly eg Cambridge, the Regents & Chancellors Scholarship, McGill, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST), and the National University of Singapore.

Edexcel International is the provider of the GCE London Examinations. It has centres in every region, ensuring that they meet the standards as specified by the QCA, UK.

Critical Thinking Skills or Social Skills are basically sub-sit papers - not an entry requirement into universities. Some colleges impose this subject to have their lecturers fulfil their annual workload hours. At HELP, these skill sets are instead built into the A-Levels examinations, while at the same time develop and nurture them to be well-rounded persons, as this is what top universities are looking for.

Yes. The Department of A-Levels offers University Placement Services with the objective of assisting and guiding students to apply for admission to universities. Through this service, the Department has successfully placed students in many top universities worldwide.

The A-Levels is a more academic oriented program suited for degree courses like Law, Medicine and the Specialised Sciences. The Foundation programme better prepares students who wish to take practical oriented degree courses like Business, Communication, Psychology, and IT. Both are good programs but the whole purpose of a pre-university education is to prepare students before entering into their degree program. Therefore, student’s choice of degree pathway determines which program will be best suited for them.

The Foundation program is known for its flexibility because it allows students to explore and expose themselves to the different areas in choosing their electives (Arts: 4 electives & Science: 5 electives). Also, the Foundation program is designed to prepare students to familiarize themselves with the university structure; where courses are semester based and assessed continuously through coursework, assignments and examinations. We also pride ourselves in preparing students academically and providing soft skills training as part of a holistic learning opportunity for students. Students will be required to work in groups and individually; which expose them to teamwork environment and written communication, presenting their reports; which enhances their verbal communication and public speaking confidence, and overall encourages better planning and time management within the classroom.

Upon completing your SPM, you are required to complete a pre-university programme before embarking on your undergraduate studies (except for the American Degree Program).

Yes. There are many leading multinational companies (e.g., General Electric, AC Nielsen, and Shell) that are recruiting HELP University College students as interns and employees.
