THE EAST TIMOR YOUTHS RESEARCH PROJECT

World Vision East Timor and the HELP University College Centre for Psychology have embarked together on a large scale psychosocial research on youth in Timor Leste (East Timor).
The team conducted a preliminary study in 2004, spending one week travelling across the country, meeting with government officials, teachers, lecturers, and most importantly the youths of Timor. Their journey took them to 6 different places, from the larger towns of Dili and Baucao to the more rural areas in Balibo, Alieu, and Atabae.
Among other things, the research will look at how youths spend their time, their psychosocial well-being, their relationships with their families and friends, their level of engagement with the education system, and their level of preparedness for the future.
