The Eighth National English Debate Competition: Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Dr. Hajjah Saleha Debate Cup 2010
10/04/2010 - 12:00am
Congratulations to the champions SMK St. Michael Ipoh Perak!
HELP's National English Debate Competition provides students with the platform to better understand the English language and to learn to use it competently. Other beneficial aspects of the debate competition include mastering the skill of public speaking, gaining confidence in the presentation of facts, gaining experience and the ability to conduct research on topical issues and current affairs, enhancing thinking skills as well as appreciating the importance of time management.
By preparing the young generation with the essential skills in mastering the English language, HELP is contributing to the government's efforts in implementing the policy as part of the larger aim of upgrading the educational and competitive abiliities of Malaysians.
Through the HELP University College National English Debate Competitions, we hope to:
-
Complement the government's efforts in implementing the teaching of Science and Mathematics in English
-
Encourage and promote the use of the English language amongst school students
-
Enhance students' skills and competencies in the English language in Malaysian schools through engaging rational and organised debate on topical issues
- Identify the upcoming competent and promising users of the English language and to recognise and nurture their talents
