Mad2Max 2010

Mad2Max 2010 is a hip hop event that caters to all dancing enthusiasts, especially hip-hop fans. This event also brings awareness to the general public who may not have the accurate perception of the hip hop lifestyle.

This event will be held on the 15th of May 2010 in Kuala Lumpur Dancers’ Association (KLDA). It will be a sequel to last year’s event (Mad2Max 2009), which was held in Euphoria’s Ministry of Sound. This year, there will be bigger stakes to claim, as well as tougher competition to endure, as the winning cash prize amount has been raised and an Advanced category has been included in the inter-college hip hop competition. There will also be a Dance Carnival held prior to the competition, where audience can watch dance performances from local talents, receive free dance workshops from various dance instructors, and win prizes from games and quizzes.

The Mad2Max 2010 Dance Carnival will begin from 11am until 4pm in KLDA, and admission is free. This carnival is opened to everyone who is curious about hip hop or is craving for an entertaining Saturday. Later in the evening, from 5.30pm onwards, the Mad2Max 2010 Inter-college Hip Hop Dance Competition kicks off, with dance crews made out of 2 to 6 members battle it out in Beginner and Advanced levels to win cash prize of up to RM1000 per crew (Champions from Advanced and Beginner level get RM1000 and RM700 per crew respectively, while Runner-ups from Advanced and Beginner level get RM500 and RM350 per crew respectively).

The panel judges of this competition include:
1. Fellest Yan, judge of Astro’s Battleground and founder of Royal Phantom dance studio
2. Bobby Tan, judge of Astro’s Battleground and founder of Street Nation dance studio
3. Cecilia Yong, winner of “So You Think You Can Dance”

Besides judging the competition, these dance celebrities will also provide special performances.
Interested dance crews can participate in this competition for a small fee of RM50 per crew, consisting between 2 to 6 members in each crew. Audience who are interested to support their favourite competing crews or to watch performances by hip hop celebrities can purchase tickets for RM10 (free standing), RM25 (free seating), and RM30 (special seating with opportunity to meet, greet and dine with hip hop celebrities. All proceeds from participation fees and ticket sales will be channelled towards HMC Rush, an educational excursion to be held in Gold Coast, Australia.
