Upon obtaining her LLB (Hons) from the University of London and the Certificate of Legal Practice, Ms Vilmah started her career as a lecturer at MARA Institute of Technology (now Universiti Teknologi MARA) in 1992. She then joined HELP University College in 1997 and was promoted as a Senior Lecturer in 2001 upon completion of her LLM.

Ms Vilmah specialises in the areas of comparative Law of Contract, comparative Commercial Law and comparative Company Law, and International Trade Law which she has taught for the past 10 years. She has undertaken extensive studies in these areas. She has taught on the HELP-University of Queensland Master in Applied Law program in Singapore. She currently teaches on the internal and external undergraduate law programs at HELP. She completed her LLM in 2000 at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia specialising in Cyberlaw. Her dissertation for the LLM was titled Telemedicine in Malaysia: A Study from the Legal and Ethical Point of View. Ms Vilmah scored distinctions for all her LLM papers, namely in Information Technology Law, Intellectual Property Law, Comparative Labour Law and Comparative International Law.

Ms Vilmah has also conducted numerous entrepreneurship seminars on meeting the legal challenges in the international trade of handicraft in collaboration with Karangkraf Malaysia. She has also delivered several guest lectures on international trade and e-contracting for local and foreign business persons and staff and students of HELP University College.
